Brown Fenny
By Fenway Bartholomule, with creative assistance from William Butler Yeats.
She whispered, 'I am too broke,'
And then, 'my mom can loan me dough';
Wherefore she bought a Fenny
Again that she might ride.
'Go and ride, go and ride, FarmWife,
If the mule be brave and smart.'
I'm Fenny, brown Fenny, brown Fenny,
She is looped in the loops of my heart.
O mules are the darnedest things,
There is nobody wise enough
To find out all that is in us.
FarmWife will be thinking of me
Till the stars have run away
And the shadows eaten the moon.
I'm Fenny, brown Fenny, brown Fenny,
One cannot go riding too soon.
And then, 'my mom can loan me dough';
Wherefore she bought a Fenny
Again that she might ride.
'Go and ride, go and ride, FarmWife,
If the mule be brave and smart.'
I'm Fenny, brown Fenny, brown Fenny,
She is looped in the loops of my heart.
O mules are the darnedest things,
There is nobody wise enough
To find out all that is in us.
FarmWife will be thinking of me
Till the stars have run away
And the shadows eaten the moon.
I'm Fenny, brown Fenny, brown Fenny,
One cannot go riding too soon.
